Susan Munson

Charlottesville-based Singer/Songwriter, Rock ‘n’ Roller, Susan Munson writes the songs that she hears on the wind and in her soul. They demand to be written and performed for others to enjoy. Many of her songs have a bluesy, fun feel with vocals infused with love and a breath of fresh air. Others lean into country, making her rich voice evoke the soul of Emmylou Harris and the prose of John Prine.

A prolific songwriter, Susan has released 2 CDs of original songs, Promise on the Moonrise and Halfway to Anywhere. She is now in the studio working on more songs that have demanded her attention.

Susan also involves herself in many musical projects. Mojo Pie plays eclectic covers and showcases her original songs. Mama Tried plays a mix of early Dead songs and rockin’ band originals. And then she does the jam band thing in the Grateful Dead cover band, Alligator. Susan also enjoys performing solo at assisted living facilities in the area.

Susan runs – and performs in – the singer/songwriter showcase for Charlottesville’s First Night Virginia and has been a featured artist in Jason Burke’s Six-Pack Songwriter Series. She has performed at the Sprint Pavilion, The Paramount Theater, The Jefferson Theater, The Southern Cafe & Music Hall and numerous wineries and cideries in Central Virginia. She finds inspiration as a regular at The Local’s Monday night songwriter’s night.
